Bon Voyage!

Well, I guess I don't say "bon voyage" if I'm the one traveling, but oh well.
In 2 hours (yikes, only 2 hours!) I'll be leaving for my trip to Cabo San Lucas!! I'm feeling excited, but overwhelmed. Overwhelmed in the sense that I've found myself in tears at least 4 times this evening. Once was when I was still at school at 6:00 'tweaking' the sub plans that I had finished yesterday, once when I went to make 20 copies and found that the Xerox Bandit had stolen all but the two that remained on my account. I would testify under oath that there is NO WAY I made 1000 copies in the past 22 days. Again when I realized that I forgot to get my "exit-reentry" stamp in my passport (now why in the world do I need an exit-reentry stamp BEFORE I travel? I think that's just ridiculous)and anyway I was scared for a few minutes (okay, hours) that I would either a)not be allowed to leave and make use of the thousands of dollars I've spent on this trip or b)not be allowed to come home and lose just about the same amount because I wouldn't be able to go back to work. Then there was the moment when I discovered (falsely) that I did NOT actually have a copy of David's deployment orders, which is my ticket to getting his ticket refunded. But then I lifted the top piece of paper and there they were, those beautiful things! And then a couple times during Desperate Housewives and Brothers and Sisters. Oh, and once more when I read that one of my ScrapVillage friends may be losing a pet. I always hate to hear about losing pets.
I've also had a few near-tears moments, like when I finally got a package slip, but not until 8pm because I stayed at work so long and the post office was closed so I couldn't pick it up. It better not be my Robo-shirt. I'll be mad! Can't find out until next week anyway. Also, I have measured my carry-on suitcase (since I don't have time to check bags) about 8 times and weighed myself with the suitcase to make sure it doesn't exceed 40 pounds. I think it's only 25 pounds.
So I'm excited to actually get there and stop being overwhelmed and just be...at the pool, in a lounge chair, with an umbrella drink... aaahhhhh. And I'll wait until the last day to think about that pesky exit-reentry stamp again.
Until next time... You can find me here if you need me:

12 of 12

I didn't think I'd get 12 pictures since I took a David nap today. A David nap is a nap that lasts a whole lot longer than a normal person nap. I think a normal person nap could be between 20 and maybe 90 minutes. A David nap, on the other hand, lasts at least 2 hours. Or in my case today (yesterday) 4 or 5 hours. But in the hours of the day that I WAS awake, here's what I did:

08:12. Jill, Rhonda and I went for an 8 mile run this morning. It was my first run in these new socks and I LOVE them. Love them, love them, love them! They have these great little tabs that keep them from sliding down into your shoes. Yeah, could've used those during the marathon... Anyway, I especially love that they are labeled with "R" and "L". That is so cute! And think of how handy it would be if there were little windows cut into my shoes so they would show... when someone says "turn right at the corner" I wouldn't even have to think...just look down at my sock.

08:30 After running, but before showering, I couldn't help but admire my new stuff that arrived on Friday. More of the same running socks (3 pairs in all), my fabulous Jordana Paige Knitting Satchel...it's even huger than I thought it would be!...and some lovely and fancy silver shoes that were specifically ordered to wear with an icy blue dress I plan to wear to my friend Rachel's wedding in July. But I'll wear them way more than that. Now that I think of it, I should put a picture of the dress on here later.

09:20 Yum yum! Brownies for breakfast! These are delicious! Don't worry...I didn't eat them all for breakfast, I had cut them and taken a whole bunch to share at school and at David's office as a way to say, "Thank you for coming to put my spare tire on my car".

09:30. I filled my knitting bag so I could take it on its first outing. I got a 10:00 appointment at Saturday Clinic to see what is wrong with my ears. Sounds are muffled, as they sometimes are when I'm getting a cold, but so far, no cold. Also, other sounds- the tv, the airco, my students' voices- are magnified to the point of being painful.

09.45 The best thing about going to the clinic is these giant Shi Shi dog statues you pass by on the way in. I also like checking in for my appointments and prescription pick-up by typing my name in the computer. And seeing my name in lights when my prescriptions are ready for pick-up!

10.46 More errands. Depositing some checks into savings, but as it turns out, for some reason I am not authorized to deposit into my savings account? Weird. So I deposited it into checking and then did an internet transfer to savings.

11:00. One last errand, in hopes that a package I'm expecting would arrive. Nope. Just the West Elm catalog, which I love and a pack of ribbon.

11:15. I noticed this droopy flower. I got the bouquet from one of my students for Teacher Appreciation Week. The pink daisy in the back was a student council Mother's Day fundraiser. I guess there was an extra one and the student council sponsor gave it to me.

5:45- I fell asleep at some point and didn't wake up until 5:45. I think I remember waking up and looking at the clock around 2:30, 3:45 and 4:45 and thinking "I need to wake up" but I just couldn't!

18:45 I'm in the midst of unpacking the things I "earned" through my Pampered Chef party (that's what all those checks were for too). I'm always disappointed to realize that the things look bigger in the catalog. But I did get a lot of really fun stuff. Now to find the motivation to use it! I'm sure it will be easier once my dishwasher returns. Only 1 more 12 of 12 and a few more days until he does!

19:15. I decided to go to the Shoppette because I was really hungry for some soup... anything really, since our cupboards are bare...but soup sounded like it would hit the spot. I ended up not even eating the soup. I ate some pretzels and an orange.

20:30. For dessert after my non-dinner, I opted for a Werther's Original. These things are so tasty! I hadn't had one in a really long time, but these two came with my Jordana Paige Knitting Satchel! What a nice touch! I like Jimmy Beans Wool!

I think that's 12, right?
Oh, and the doctor says there's nothing wrong with my ears and gave me Flonase. I thought of trying to take one of my 12 of 12s of myself administering my Flonase, but I couldn't manage holding the bottle, my opposite nostril AND the camera all at once...

Self-Induced Jet Lag

It's Thursday and I'm mostly recovering from the jet lag I gave myself hanging out with people in time zones across America. There was a Virtual Crop at ScrapVillage and those things are just too fun to sleep through. At one point, I had been awake for 22 hours. After having just a 3 hour nap. It was a blast! I made 23 layouts, 1 mini album and a card. I had hoped to really stock up on cards, but alas...it just wasn't "in the cards".
Here are 3 of my favorite LOs from the weekend. If you want to see more, just click the link on the side to my gallery at ScrapVillage.

I won a couple prizes this weekend too, and can't wait to get them. Maybe they'll make me feel better about having to spend $307 getting new tires for my car after I got a flat. Apparently my non-flat tires were dangerously "bald" and as we enter rainy season, they needed to be changed.
This week I got a whopping EIGHT packages...but haven't been able to pick any up yet since I was without a car for 2 afternoons and then the post office closed early today. But I also got a whopping eight and a half page letter from my friend Britt, who claims to read my blog but never leaves a comment. Hi, Britt!! If you're reading, keep your calendar open for July 6! More details to follow!
I'm almost finished with the front of the Keyhole Tank sweater I'm knitting from Knit.1 magazine's spring issue.
And now I'm just rambling...
