I think I'm going to "pre-make" a December Daily album this year. Don't know what December Daily is? It's an Ali Edwards project and you can get an overview here.
The basic idea is that you build an album or pages for your album for the month of December, in advance, and then during December, you journal & take pictures of what's going on on a daily basis (hence the clever title, December Daily) and just add in your journaling & photos. In my case, I'll be adding my photos later because I don't print at home.
I'm going to make mine a mini, since I've been really into mini-albums lately. I've been so into mini-albums lately that I actually made one, bringing my collection up to 2. But I have plans for a few others, including this one.
During one of my flickr searches for mini-albums, I found this one made from a box of soap. I use the liquid body wash, but lucky for me, David uses bar soap. (Irish Spring, in case you were wondering.) I searched "soap box mini album" on google and the first link that popped up was actually this video tutorial made by the same person whose flickr photo had inspired me!
I have tons of holiday themed papers in my scrapbook stash and my mom brought me some more adhesive when she came to visit. I've chosen the format of my project and declared my intention to do it. So, there's no turning back now! (Unless I can't manage to clear a path from the doorway of my "hobby room" to my table...)

Scrapbookin' On The Couch
It has been so long since I've played around with my paper scrapbooking supplies (but I do have plans to work with them soon for some baby shower goodies!) I've only managed to clear off a space on my table big enough to make a card or two. The other day, while hanging out on the ScrapVillage message board, I decided that I needed to do something SBR (scrapbook related), right away! Then I walked upstairs, looked at my table and decided it wasn't going to happen...unless, I could do it without making a mess, clearing a space, or getting out from underneath a blanket!
So, digital scrapbooking it was! And here's what I came up with:
(and in the interest of full disclosure, I only made Bella's Mittens & Stingray Love the other day. Funship Freedom was completely done, and 3 Sisters just needed the journaling added)
(Sorry if the formatting on this is totally jumbled and confusing. I tried loading the pictures with Picasa & it's a different process than I usually use)
Bella's Mittens-
I already wrote about knitting up these mittens. As far as I know, they haven't reached their recipient yet.

3 Sisters- from our summer 08 trip to Australia!
Journaling- (just copied the legend from a Blue Mountains Australia website)
Journaling-Long ago in the Blue Mountains there lived three little Aboriginal sisters. They were Meenhi, Wimlah and Gunnedoo, whose Witch Doctor father was called Tyawan. Only one creature was feared by all - the Bunyip who lived in a deep hole. When Tyawan had to pass the hole, he would leave his daughters safely on the cliff behind a rocky wall. One day, waving goodbye to his daughters, he descended the cliff steps. On top of the cliff a big centipede suddenly appeared and frightened Meenhi, who threw a stone at it. The stone rolled over the cliff and crashed into the valley. Birds, animals and fairies stopped still as the rocks behind the three sisters split open, leaving them on a thin ledge. The angry Bunyip emerged to see the terrified sisters in the valley,
Tyawan saw the Bunyip close to his daughters so he pointed his magic bone at the girls and turned them to stone. They would be safe there until the Bunyip had gone and then Tyawan would return them to their former selves. The Bunyip then chased Tyawan who found himself trapped, so he changed himself into a Lyre Bird. Everyone was safe, but Tyawan had dropped his magic bone. After the Bunyip had gone, Tyawan searched and searched for his bone - and he is still searching. The Three Sisters stand silently watching him from their ledge, hoping he'll find the bone and turn them back to Aboriginal girls. As you look at the Three Sisters, you can hear Tyawan - the Lyre Bird - calling his daughters as his search for the lost bone continues.
Stingray Love- This was a fun little experiment with recoloring! I wanted something orange, but the orange dots on the paper didn't match up with the orange letters. So I changed the color! And then I wanted the word "stingray" and the scalloped paper to match the color of that beautiful Grand Cayman water, so I used that fancy color-picker and changed that too! Digi-scrapping is so much fun, because right now, I'm still inexperienced enough to feel like I learn something new almost every time I do it!

I remember my friend Skip telling me about the awesome time she and Rex had swimming with the stingrays on their honeymoon cruise, so when I saw it listed as an excursion for Grand cayman, I got so excited! David, on the other hand, wasn’t too sure. After all, just last summer we spent a day at Steve Irwin’s zoo, and if the mighty crocodile hunter could be taken down by a ray, then surely we mere mortals were in peril! But, he decided to be a good sport and go along with it. And he was so glad he did! Swimming with the stingrays wasn’t exactly what I had expected (I was thinking they’d be kept in a cove or tank, like the dolphins...but instead they were just out in the ocean, free to come and go from near and far!) but it was an absolutely awesome experience! They were huge, ugly, slimy and, once we got used to having them swarming around us, amazing! We got to feed them, pet them, kiss them (for good luck!), “hold” them, and even get back massages from them. They were so friendly... and couldn’t get enough of our lovin’!

Since I don't want to clear my table...
I've been spending some time digi-scrapping. I love it! A-I love being on the computer. B-I love that I don't have to clean up after myself before (or after) (or leave the mess out for three weeks) C-You can change things over and over again and never have "cutters remorse" or busy yourself trying to pull up something you already stuck down and changed your mind about. D-You can collect lots of supplies for FREE! I love free! E-You can buy even more supplies on-line and get them right that very minute! No waiting for shipping or driving 25 minutes to the mailbox! F-I can e-mail them right to my friends that are in the pictures and they feel special. G-You can "tag" your digi supplies (I'm using Picasa and LOVE it!) and the computer keeps them way more organized than you could ever dream of keeping your real supplies. H-(this goes along with g)-If you're looking for a yellow flower, you just type "yellow flower" and the search engine pulls a bunch of them out of your file in like .011 seconds, rather than finding your box of flowers, digging through to find a yellow one (maybe), forgetting where you were even planning to put the yellow flower, and then having to put it all away (or leave it out). I-Digi-LOs make an excellent computer screensaver!
But don't worry... I still love my paper-scrapping too and I'm not giving it up!

Love to be Lazy
This has been a great weekend! I've been in my pajamas for most of it! The only thing I went out to do was a 5k fun run on Saturday morning. Otherwise, I've just been at home, knitting, surfing the net, watching movies, and talking on the phone. I love lazy weekends. Not doing any running around makes the weekend seem longer. Oh, since my weekend seemed longer, I actually cleaned the big mess off of my scrap table. Maybe now I'll do some paper scrapping instead of digital. My relatively new interest in digital scrapbooking makes cleaning off my scrap table much less urgent. I really wanted to post a LO for ScrapVillage's monthly "blueprint" challenge, but dreaded cleaning off the table. Even with less than 2 inches of free space on the table, adhesive hidden under looming, leaning piles of paper, and a laundry-basket full of school files blocking my path to my bins of chipboard, brads and Prima flowers, I was able to make this:
And, an added bonus to digi-scrapping, I've been able to scrap this Australia pages even though I haven't gotten all of the pictures uploaded and ordered yet! Most importantly, no mess to clean up after! Now that my table is clean, though, I do hope to "wind-down" after school at least once this week with some actual paper-and-adhesive scrapbooking.
And, an added bonus to digi-scrapping, I've been able to scrap this Australia pages even though I haven't gotten all of the pictures uploaded and ordered yet! Self-Induced Jet Lag
It's Thursday and I'm mostly recovering from the jet lag I gave myself hanging out with people in time zones across America. There was a Virtual Crop at ScrapVillage and those things are just too fun to sleep through. At one point, I had been awake for 22 hours. After having just a 3 hour nap. It was a blast! I made 23 layouts, 1 mini album and a card. I had hoped to really stock up on cards, but alas...it just wasn't "in the cards".

I won a couple prizes this weekend too, and can't wait to get them. Maybe they'll make me feel better about having to spend $307 getting new tires for my car after I got a flat. Apparently my non-flat tires were dangerously "bald" and as we enter rainy season, they needed to be changed.
This week I got a whopping EIGHT packages...but haven't been able to pick any up yet since I was without a car for 2 afternoons and then the post office closed early today. But I also got a whopping eight and a half page letter from my friend Britt, who claims to read my blog but never leaves a comment. Hi, Britt!! If you're reading, keep your calendar open for July 6! More details to follow!

I love the postman!
What a great mail day I had! Too bad for David...he picked up the mail because he's really excited about a new laptop arriving soon and probably got really excited when he saw 3 package slips in our box! All were for me!
1.I got a pack of Prima flowers. LOVE those things!
2.Two books I ordered just last week probably. One is "Run Fast" by Hal Higdon, and the other is "One Skein" by Leigh Radford. "Run Fast" is obviously about running fast--improving your speed and training and "One Skein" is full of cute cute projects- knitted cupcakes, clutch bags, hats, even a rug!--that you can knit up with single skeins (duh) or leftovers. I'm so excited about this book...as soon as I finish my sweater and untangle all the yarn in my yarn drawer I'll get going on a project!
3.My mom sent me a birthday package! It was full of yummy stuff--cookies, hot cocoa mix & chocolates- crafty stuff--ribbon, a super-cool idea-a-day paper crafting calendar, card envelopes, and the fabulous Stampin' Up! small black scissors- necessary stuff--the only kind of toothpaste that doesn't give me canker sores (Trader Joe's All-Natural Peppermint), Mary Kay cleanser & moisturizer- house stuff--kitchen towels- and other misc. stuff. The package also included a pair of very cozy-looking pajama pants from Aunt Cookie.
In addition to all that wonderful stuff, I also got a birthday card from my friend Kara and a few sheets of free card stock for filling out a survey a while back. Oh I just love getting mail!

December 27
It's a big job, but somebody's gotta do it. I've waited and waited but it gets clearer everyday that that somebody is going to have to be me. Tackling the scrap room is no small task. I don't just want to put things places, I want to throw things away, re-organize and put things in places that make sense. Which makes the chore take a really long time and makes me lose interest in working in here very quickly!

Christmas Eve was great! David was dying to open a present in the morning, so we each opened 1. I opened a Post Secret book, which I already knew I was getting, and David opened the corn-on-the-cob griller from my mom, which had stumped him ever since it got here! To keep David away from the presents for a while, we went to see Pursuit of Happyness at the theater. I thought it was really good, David didn't. He says that it was 'slow'- because there were no alien invasions or explosions.
When we came home, we ate and then opened lots of presents! Lots!

After working sporadically on this project for months, I finally finished one! Two more to go (although since I'm posting on December 15, I can now say that all are finished!) Why I was late to work this morning...
ScrapVillage is having a Canvas Concepts contest and today was the last day to enter. You know how I love to win things and I'm hoping to hang on to my lucky streak into the new year. So, I knew I wanted to enter. Only, have you noticed that ever since about November 15, time has been moving faster? Last night I realized that today would be Dec. 7, and thus, the last day to enter. So, last night I gathered my supplies and painted my canvas. This morning, I got up early so I'd be on time to the faculty meeting (It's common practice for the speaker to embarass people who walk in late, and I didn't want to go down that road...again). But, then I realized that I hadn't completed my project! So I worked on that all morning, you know, instead of taking a shower, eating breakfast or brushing my teeth. Then, at about 7:05, I realized that I had to do all of those things and leave for work within 15 minutes to get there on time. Oh, and don't forget the most important thing---uploading a picture of my project to the gallery! Of course, as non-luck would have it, the computer just wasn't accepting my upload and I had to try 3 times! I parked my car and as I opened the door to get out, I heard the announcement "Faculty meeting in the cafeteria right now" and as I hustled to the caf, it dawned on me... ScrapVillage does not use Japan Standard Time. I had a whole 'nother day to get all that done! So...here it is, my photo for December 7, one day earlier than I needed it to be!
